On Monday we visited Nyman`s gardens with friends, Nick and Sally.
It was drizzling but it didn`t seem to matter.
We wandered aimlessly..... until we had our breath taken away by the most stunning borders.
Stunning firstly for the time of year and secondly for the colour.
There were three gardeners working on it, mainly deadheading. One of the ladies spent a long time with us answering questions and I hope we gave her enough positive feedback
to warrant the time she spent talking with us.
She told us that the borders have recently been overhauled to produce more of a gradation in height.
The colour combinations were striking.....
The aubergine coloured plant is called perilla.
The dahlias provided dashes of jewel brightness.
Rudbeckias provide the sunshine.
The subtlety of the colour combinations were worthy of note.
After seeing the borders, I kind of wish I had a bigger space to give over to borders.
It`s all to do with scale. Large splashes of colour work so well.
On the scale I manage in both our gardens, clumps of perenniels need to be split regularly
which produces myriads of spare plants. Hence the little nursery at the garden.
Nymans ....well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
Wow, stunning isn't the word for it. I must make a note of this place and make time to visit it next year, those gardens are gorgeous x x x
