Berries in the Sunshine

Who could have believed that it was November, as we worked in our t.shirts and basked outside the polytunnel in the sunshine with our lunch.
We had an odd shower or two but were perfectly OK clearing more of the beds inside.
It was delightful as always.
There were visitors staying in the little house. How lovely!

You will notice, those of you who have stayed, that the area has been fenced.
At least the sheep will not eat our hard-won little woodland garden.

There were several jobs to tackle so it was nice to have Paula on board for the day`s work.
We weeded the asparagus bed and flung dung.

We cleared the barn path and put all the comfrey on the compost.
We completed the bottom path below the polytunnel.
When it rained we slipped inside to clear the last of the cucumbers and aubergines, trim the courgettes which are still growing wildly and dug over the bed. Finally we covered it with a good layer of dung and we will let the worms do the rest.

Just before lunch we decided to go for a walk to see if we could find any sloes to make sloe gin.
 The berries were amazing.

If you painted the holly leaves no-one would believe they were so blue.

We made our way round the site of the Woodland yurt (now packed away) and across the little bridge.....

.....up the field .....

......past the amazing thistles.....

.....up to the area of the Owl yurt where we remembered the anniversary festivities in August....

.......for our lunch then delicious apple scones made by Paula.

And tonight we have Romanesque for dinner. Yum yum.

A perfect day..
