Pickham Farm Open Garden

On Sunday 2nd. August we opened the farm and garden for Farm Africa.
It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day, no wind, just a slight breeze.
I began the day by making chocolate cupcakes and gathering
a few tools, bunting and tablecloths together.
Down at the farm, it was all go....
...books being sorted...
.....raffle prizes set out....
Here is Lyn sorting at the stalls.
 ....plants being watered....
....cakes being cut....
...crafts and jewellery set out....
.....donkeys saddled up.....

The garden waited in the heat, with butterflies fluttering and ladybirds hidden in all kinds of places.

Some beds full of flowers.....

At 11 o clock, people began to arrive.
It was all very exciting.

The ladies in the Wool Barn.....Paula, Linda, Maureen and Mary.....making tea and
 coffee and serving cakes.
Run off their feet at times.
The covered barn used for teas with hay bales for seating.
This is Margaret, Emma and Alan enjoying tea and cakes.

Kathryn giving shiatsu sessions in the mini-yurt.........
Here is Amanda having her session.

Lyn and Day introducing Harry and William to visitors.....
Tractor rides round the farm....

Donkey rides round the field..... managed by Laura, Hollie and Anne.

Picnics in the lower field.
Angela and Mary enjoying the dahlias.

Despite the crowds there were still frogs to be spotted.

Before we knew it the afternoon had flashed by.
I was so pleased to have had a tractor ride with my friends, my great nephew Aiden, Jamie, Julia and Frazer, my nephew. It was delightful.

I was also very pleased to watch Aiden and Frazer having donkey rides.

As the early evening came on, we began to tidy everything up. Tim lit the barbeque.

It was still baking hot. We sat outside the cob shed, relaxing, thank goodness,
sipping wine and discussing the day.

We all agreed it had been a great success
and there was a loud cheer when Anne announced that we had made over
£1000
All in all a most enjoyable day.
