Heavenly Days

The weather has been glorious and don`t we just deserve it, having endured such diverse conditions throughout April.
The garden was lovely on Friday.

Birdsong, butterflies and new visitors arriving.
The pond was teeming with newts and the glowing marsh marigolds in full flower.
They have very helpfully seeded themselves all round.

My main job was to plant up the double sweetpea row.....

.......and a double row of the dried flower, statice.

Who can believe at this stage, what these plants will become.
I always find it hard to leave them enough space.

In the polytunnel I put in the first tomatoes...Pomodoro.
Unlike last year they are the only tomato plants which are ready to go in.

The strawberries are coming along nicely.
I will start feeding them soon.

The new crabapple will be in full flower before it gets into the ground.

Anne came along and we discussed the positioning of the new gates,
lining them up with the entrance.
Once that is done we can get the two new trees in.

I cut the edges on some of the beds.....quite a chore because of the rabbit wire
but it looks much neater once done.

The rhubarb, globe artichokes and asparagus are coming on.

And of course the forgetmenots a sea of heavenly blue.

  2. I`m sure they will be fine. We didn`t gain much by planting early. In fact we lost quite a few things.

  3. So much promise for the season ahead, lets hope it's a good growing year x x

  4. Getting peas and beans to germinate has been a bit of a problem. Think we are getting them too wet at the beginning. At least the tomatoes have taken away.

Lots of ideas and inspiration for my new garden.
