Fabulous Fairy Fun

Sunday 9th July dawned fine and warm.
We had lots to pack in the car and were at Freshwinds by half nine. It was very busy for all of us, but especially Anne.
As well as the fairy day preparations, she was also ferrying departing visitors, in the workmax, with all their luggage.

The garden looked very welcoming in the early morning sunshine, with chairs and blankets set out amongst the flower beds.
We got on with our designated jobs.
I completed the photo booth and we hung up the fairy outfits.
Paula set up the craft bench.
Tracey set up the teas in the little house.
Bunting went up and .....
.....at last we were all ready.

I set off across the butterfly filled meadow with my basket of
willow wands to the start of the trail.

There were guests already arriving and it wasn`t long before the story had begun.
The children seemed to love the tale and were fascinated by the special picture of Mr. Turner, the woodcutter.
I accompanied the groups tiptoeing past the troll`s bridge and on to the fairies` new willow tree home.
From there they continued the journey at their own pace...
....to the new witch`s hovel...
.....the green man circle....
.....and wand decorating tables....

 Gltter galore.

At the end of the field the goblins` lair was waiting. Then the mown path curved up towards the garden.
At one corner was the new fairy village, constructed by Anne, Pat and Kerry. Peeping inside was quite magical as it was bigger on the inside than on the outside....a bit like a tardis.

Following the toadstool signs, we caught glimpses of the little house with teas and cakes for sale.
In the garden there were more activities waiting...
.....a tiny yurt full of fairy dressing up clothes and fairy books....
.....a log desk and treasure chest for writing to the fairies....
.....a photo booth....
.... an area to decorate crowns and fairy shapes....

....and an area to make fairy gardens.
Lyn was selling raffle tickets for this fabulous cake.
It was an incredible piece of art.

Here is Stephanie`s card with contact details.

Just down the path, teas were being served by Tracey, with
sun and dappled shade to sit in.....such a lovely spot with views across the meadows.

Towards the end of the afternoon, things were not quite so hectic and there was time to sit under the trees in the orchard for ice lollies and cold drinks with the family.
This is my nephew Fletcher, having a good time.

At half two the raffle ticket was chosen.
We were all delighted when 4 year old Christopher won.
Later he came back with his granny to collect it.
There was quite a bit of excitement.
It was a delightfully appropriate way to end our day...
....the "icing on the cake" as it were.
There really was magic in the air.

To top it all, after adding everything up, we were totally amazed to find that we had made
£480
This will be donated to the charity
DRAGONFLIES
It is a free bereavement service supporting children and families.

We had a wonderful day.
Many thanks to everyone who helped and to all the people who came for the day.
