We woke to a beautiful morning and it stayed fine all day....perfect for our garden opening at Freshwinds, in aid of Farm Africa.
There was lots of preparation going on from quite early on.
Plants set out.
Cakes cut and displayed.
Produce displayed on the donkey cart.
Flowers picked.
Fairy yurt tidied.
Signs put up.
Tractor cleaned.
Donkeys tacked up.
Raffle set out.
Visitors began arriving at 11, wandering through the garden, in the sunshine.
Claire came to do face-painting.
Tracy, looking very pretty told stories inside and
outside the fairy yurt.

Ian looked after the produce stall.
Lyn looked after the raffle.
Ian number 2 did a wellie toss which caused
great hilarity in our family.
The winners were announced in the latter part of the afternoon.
Here they are with their trophies.
Tim gave tractor rides round the surrounding fields.
I enjoyed this very much.

We stopped to view the fairies (disguised as dragonflies) near the Woodland yurts.
Here is Alfie looking intently for them.
Laura and Hollie were doing donkey rides.
I was so pleased to see Rosie and Alice with their embroidered headbands.
Irene and Jill were doing teas at the little house, where visitors could sit viewing the beautiful surrounding countryside.
There was a wonderful array of donated cakes.

It was lovely to see everyone, including family, old friends and neighbours, enjoying the garden.
It was a truly delightful day.
The total at the end of the day was £550.
We felt very pleased and were grateful to everyone who came, and especially to all the helpers who made it so special.
Thank you.
