Rainbows of Autumn

I am flabberghasted by the incredible colours of this autumn, our wonderful Indian summer and the abundance of the harvest from our gardens.
Today was a mixture of rain and warm sunshine. It was great to just nip into
the polytunnel and do a few jobs while there were showers.
We have thinned out some of the tremendous growth.
We also made a start on clearing the wild flower area, shaking seeds as we went.
Steve harvested some of the pumpkins.

We`ve already brought some of the smaller ones home.

I stripped the chilli plant in the tunnel and this was the harvest from one plant.
What to do with them all?
Paula suggested stringing them when they are dry.

We also harvested the borlotti beans from the tunnel..
Great in soups and stews.

Part of today`s haul.

It took about an hour to sort it all out at home.

Michaelmus daisies and dahlias.

Plenty of colour to last through the dull winter months.

  1. Yes well. I say that every time we come home. It is going to be a relief when the abundance dies down a bit ......not that I am ungrateful...."Come ye thankful people come" and all that. Also "We plough the fields and scatter" coming up in church tomorrow afternoon with the Winchelsea children.
