Dixter Delights

Great Dixter is a lovely garden to visit and fairly close to home for us.
It would be a great place to visit from the Freshwinds Campsite.
Last week we arranged to go with good friends, Nick and Sally.
We chose a perfect day, sunny but not too hot, with a refreshing breeze.
We had lunch at the little cafe there. And there is a tiny gift shop with books, old tools and cards.
The garden was very busy with many visitors and gardeners
but it did not detract from our enjoyment.
The garden is divided into many "rooms" each with a different feel.
The Orchard Garden, Peacock Topiary Garden, Exotic Garden, The Long Border, Cat Garden.
It was pleasing to see that the vibrant colour combinations so loved by Christopher Lloyd, against all convention, are still very much in evidence.
I hope my photos reflect this.

The entrance to the house.

The Sunken Garden and Walled Garden.

Pumpkins (I think) on top of the huge compost heaps.

Christopher Lloyd loved his dachsunds so it nice to still see them in the garden.
There is a link below. Don`t know if it`s on this year.

There are many clematis around the garden and lots of varieties in the nursery there.

This will not be our last visit.
I love this garden.
