After a very exciting weekend.....blog entries to come.....we got back to a normal routine today.
We decided it was time to dig up our potatoes. The exposed ones were being chewed by something, Probably the usual suspects.
Steve came across this little toad. He is very well camouflaged.
As it rained last night, it was a good opportunity to tidy up the edges of the potato bed.
We`ve run out of old carpet but we are planning to cover our beds this winter to save all the weeding.
We did the usual watering inside the polytunnel.
I thought the tomatoes were taking rather a long time to ripen so I removed lots of the lower leaves, as well as about 40 feet of courgette growth. You can just see it all on the compost heap.
Lots of campers were around asking gardening questions. We gave one couple a horseshoe shaped courgette.
The growth on the cucumbers is incredible.
There are a few damsons.
And plenty of plums.
I cannot explain the joy and satisfaction of growing our own plums
and eating them straight from the tree.
The sweetpeas smell wonderful as we pass by.
Today`s harvest.
And a great crop of potatoes.
The sunflowers made a brave effort but are not as good as usual.
Well that's it then - I suppose I'd better go and dig our potatoes up too!
ReplyDeleteSorry did I make you feel guilty. Do you burn your haulms?
