Indian Summer

This is an eclectic mix of photographs taken over the last days of September.
We are enjoying what we call an Indian summer......misty mornings followed by hot sunny days.
Just lovely.

The garden is still full of colour, very quiet now with no more campers coming.
It is a shame with the glorious weather.

Michaelmus daisy
Lavatera

Dahlias
Cosmos

This huge toad has appeared in the pond.

This photo shows the hornbeam hedge at the other end of the garden which had got a little out of hand. I must say it doesn`t actually look much improved but it represents a good 2 hours work.
At least the nettles have disappeared
and the hedge is an even height.

The other big job is clearing the wild area......docks, nettles, bracken, couch grass, thistles.
We do need to improve the soil as its so claggy.

Whilst weeding, the view of the garden was unusual.

I have begun to collect the ladybirds.....still six to find.

The scarecrows are indoors for the winter.
Gandalf has the cob shed to himself.

A big job for next time.....the side path that runs alongside the barn.
The marigolds and nasturtiums still flowering in the polytunnel.

"Lemon Queen"

The sunny days are a joy.
It`s hard to imagine winter is round the corner.

  1. I begun tidying and clearing our garden yesterday ready for winter, making the most of the warmer days that we have left. The year seems to have flown by, or the summer has at least.
