Fairies in Waiting

Last Friday we decide to go round the fairy trail to check that all is well.
We load up the ever ready workmax and set off through the fields, to the buttercup meadow, swishing through the long grass..

We check the
Fairy Queen`s Willow Tree, home of
the Willow Fairy Queen, Lark, the Light-bringer
and her sister, Lee the Merry.

The door to their home is high, where only fairies can fly
and there is a magic, crystal doorknob to let yourself in.
It is here that the magic willow wands will be waiting for children who follow the trail.

Under the willow tree there are benches made from logs for you to rest and learn the fairy charms which will activate your wand.

We check on the bridge and can just make out the troll underneath. We are very careful not to wake him up. He`s a bit grumpy and can get quite nasty.

We duck under the overhanging branches of Willow Tree Village.
The fairies there, are peeping out from tree hollows.

We are very quiet but we spot many more tiny faces and tiny doors leading into their homes.

The fairy washing is hanging on the lines.

And they hang their treasures on silken ribbons, just out of reach of those naughty goblins.
They are always trying to steal fairy treasure.

The silver wind chimes sparkle and tinkle in the gentle breeze.
All in all a very magical spot.

We approach the Ditch Witch home very cautiously but luckily she isn`t at home.
Not too sure how she travelled though, as her broom is hanging in a tree.

Along with quite a few nasty looking potions.

Her black cat is still around but he is usually quite friendly.
However I`m not sure you should completely trust him.

And then we creep up to the Goblin`s Lair.
We know we are quite safe though, because they are rarely at home in the daytime.
They do cast spells at the entrance to stop people going in, but luckily Anne has put a protective fence around the lair.

Passing the Enchanted Lake, we make our way back to the garden and past the log circle.
It is here that we can write letters to the fairies.

Finally we check on the tiny fairy palace, ably guarded by Gandalf the Grey.

We are very happy with our fairy trail and know everything is ready for our first fairy day.
