Robin Hood at the Woodland Yurts

Our yurting weekend didn`t turn out quite as planned, but we had a wonderful time nonetheless.
We do like our home comforts but I still couldn`t believe how many bags we had.
We can now drive the cars down if its not too wet.
Not quite so much fun as the workmax.

We stayed in the Woodland Yurt ... a magical setting next to a magical wood. My nephew Frazer loves Robin Hood, so we were armed with toy bows and arrows and green tunics.
We settled ourselves in ....
.... me, Steve and my brother and his family.
We collected some kindling.
Here is Fletcher doing his bit.
We soon had the fire going and once the embers were glowing we had the barbeque sizzling away.

The boys waited very patiently.
And were soon tucking in.

We also toasted marshmallows, dipping them into Nutella.
Julia read the bedtime stories by the campfire. And then it was time to get ready for bed.

Fletcher was asleep in 5 minutes.
He looks so cosy.
Frazer stayed up until it got dark, wrapped in a blanket and cuddled up to his dad.
Both boys enjoyed their new torches.

We went to bed soon after. It`s amazing how your personal body clock seems to link with the daylight levels.
Oh I was so cosy in our bed. I have to admit I also took my hot water bottle.

We woke to a glorious August morning.
It was cloudy later.
Steve set to and cooked our breakfast.

Then it was time for fun and games and activities.
We made our own bows and arrows.

We flew aeroplanes.
We went exploring in the woods.
Then we visited Freshwinds Garden. This is the garden we care for.
Here we are searching for the tortoises.
Later Anne let us all have a closer look.

If you think tortoises are slow, think again. Here they are trying to escape for an adventure.
One tortoise did a white pooh and one did a green pooh which caused great hilarity.
Fletcher gave the tiny fairy garden a good checking over.

Finally we visited the fairy yurt and tried on the Harry Potter glasses. There is also the opportunity to dress up in the lovely fairy and wizard outfits.

We picked a lovely basket of damsons from our tree
and I ended up making the jam later that day.

Heavy rain and wind was forecast from 1 p.m
so we packed up and came home earlier than planned.
It didn`t matter.
We had a really lovely time.

Thank you Anne and Tim
and
thank you Jamie, Julia and the boys for sharing it with us.

  2. Toby's boys were sick and couldn't join us. Such a shame. But it worked out for the best when we saw the weather forecast.
