Pumpkin Bonanza and Seasonal Posies

These early September days are glorious.
The ground is damp and turning over beautifully.
Weeds are growing well!!
Harvesting continues.

The multi-headed sunflowers continue to delight.
I keep them dead-headed.

This one seeded itself and now towers over the fairy garden.
I`m so glad I left it.
Today I cut back the lobelia which will probably flower again if it remains mild.
Just inside the garden, children have been making fairy gardens.
The campsite is full this week, making the most of the last week of the childrens`summer holidays.
Some lovely campers, interesting conversations, nice compliments.
This rose, bought for a few pounds in a sale a few years ago, is such a fabulous colour.
Lovely bronzy foliage as well.
The baby chicks are growing. I was throwing them little worms today so there was quite a bit of rivalry going on.
Anne bought this garden seat to go outside the tiny yurt.
Many parents can rest here as their children are dressing up or reading fairy stories.
Today we pruned the lower branches of the rather spiky damson. This should make picking easier next year.
The tree has lost nearly all its leaves. Not sure that this is a good sign of overall health.

We have cleared quite a bit in the polytunnel.....some tomatoes that have finished but mainly morning glories which had taken over.
The cropping has been fantastic.
Seedheads are forming in the hedge.
The rabbits and guinea pigs sunning themselves.
A new plant to me, called Eupatorium.
Talking of new plants, Steve and I went to a wholesaler`s sale on Friday near Tenterden, Hopes Grove Nursery.
They open one or two weekends a year.
Oh we had a lovely time wandering round in the sunshine choosing new shrubs and perenniels.
I even got my mulberry tree at last.
The dahlias are delightful. I pick regularly and disbud, leaving one bud on each stem.
One has come up in the compost heap....one of the discarded tubers having a last fling.
That compost heap needs a bit of sorting!!!
And the path behind the polytunnel is virtually unpassable.
The alpacas will eat it all if I pull it up and throw it over the fence.
But I need long sleeves, long trousers and thick gloves to do it.
And finally a seasonal posy from our own garden.
