A New Polytunnel

We have all had a fantastic day at Freshwinds Garden.
At last the weather was good enough.....sunshine, no wind and everyone free.....so we set to and got the plastic on the polytunnel at long last.

I`m not saying it was all easy.
We pulled the very wide plastic over and that was quite straightforward.
The hardest part was the pleating round the two doorways and that took ages.

Paula, Anne and Steve worked very hard on that but I was happier filling
the surrounding trenches and raking it flat.

My nephew Shane came with his two children, Hollie and Tom, to see how we were getting on
and Anne`s daughter Holly also joined us. Good job we had enough buns to go round.

Much later, and after lots of work, we had a teabreak with Tim and Don who had been working on the little house. Don regaled us with stories of his days in the Royal Navy.
The decking looks great and the views are wonderful.

As we sat there a cinnabar moth fluttered by. Paula took this great picture.

Back at the polytunnel, we worked on the paths which are in a slightly different position, making some veg beds wider.

Paula had brought lemon cakes for the Wool Barn. They seem very popular.
And I know they are lovely!
She has also collected elder flowers today for elderflower champagne.

Right at the end of the afternoon I walked through the tunnel trying to visualise
how it`s going to look in a few months time.
It`s a huge space and we`re very excited about it.

Amazingly it looks as if it`s always been there.
