Rolling Stones Part 1 of 3

On 13th. July 2013 Paula, Steve and I set off to London to see the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park.
I have been a fan since I was 14 and I`ve never seen them live, having been too young to see them when they came to Hastings in 1964. I was then 13 years old.
This band has been rocking for 50 years and Mick Jagger is just about to celebrate his 70th birthday.

London was sweltering in 30 degree heat which of course we loved, having been acclimatised in Cyprus.
After travelling to Charing Cross by train, we walked all the way to Kensington to find our hotel. We picnicked in St. James Park sitting on the grass and watching the world go by.

Next we passed the Victoria Memorial and Buckingham Palace to walk up Constitution Hill.

All around this area was the "media circus" awaiting the imminent birth of William and Kate`s new baby, who will be third in line to the throne...... whether boy or girl.

From there we walked to Hyde park where we were delighted to see large areas of wild flowers and whole swathes of uncut grass.....quite lovely.

The Serpentine was alive with boats, waterbirds and people enjoying themselves in the heat.

Diana`s Memorial Fountain was packed (more in part 2)

This is Diana`s former home. Look carefully and you will see that the frontage is trompe de l`oeil whilst alterations are done.

Finally we passed the Albert Memorial opposite the Albert Hall.  We came out onto Kensington High Street and found our hotel for the night. Here we rested up, after two hours of walking, freshened up with tea and cakes before the evening`s entertainment.

  1. Great post Jen! So crowded - I'm not used to seeing so many people at once!
