Rolling Stones Part 2 of 3

The concert was in Hyde Park. It was the last of their 50 and Counting tour. Huge screens were set up in several places and the back of the stage was also a huge triple screen.
Around the entrance there was a funfair with a ferris wheel and helter skelter and numerous food and t.shirt stalls. We made our way right through until we could see the stage ...in the far distance...but close enough to a big screen.

We settled down on the grass with everyone else, in the late evening sun, to wait for the show. It was baking hot....30 degrees and it was warm for the whole evening.
We made forays into the crowds and the queues for food and a huge jug of Pimms and lemonade.

But we gave up on the queue for a Stones t-shirt as Steve said he wasn`t that bothered.
The loos were very good ...clean and plenty of them.....slightly different to festivals I attended in the 70`s.

The show started at 8.30 just as the sun had gone down so the screens were easy to see.
There was a count-down and film of their concert in 1969 just after Brian Jones had died.
Everyone was on their feet by this time.
And then they were there on stage.....I was actually seeing them live after a wait of 50 years.
The first number was "Start me up."
My personal favourites were....
"It`s only rock and roll"
"Ruby Tuesday"
"Honky tonk women"
"Brown sugar"

Mick Jagger was on top form, running up and down the stage and doing his iconic strutting.
Keith Richards, looking his usual piractical self, concentrating on his riffs.
Charlie Watts with his deadpan face and energetic drumming.
(Both Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards have autobiographies.....both a great read.)

I am somewhere in this crowd!!!

And after"Satisfaction" and "You can`t always get what you want" as the encore, it was all over.
We made our way to the nearest exit to retrace our steps.
It was still very warm.
Here we are beside the Serpentine. There were still many people out and about.

Back at the hotel it was showers all round!!!

I was the only one with feet intact...apart from the London dirt!!!
