Strawberries, Weeds and a Heatwave

This blog entry is dedicated to my lovely sister,
Lee
(29th. May 1958 - 29th.June 2013)

We are back from a baking hot Cyprus to a baking hot England.
We have even had our first swim in the sea today.
I will be posting a couple of blog entries about the Cyprus wildlife when I have sorted through the photos.

We left a working visit to the garden until about half past four, due to the heat. It was a lovely evening...perfect for all the campers who are here for the weekend.
Several walked through the garden and we had some nice comments.

The strategies for keeping the mice at bay, seem to be working. We have used cayenne pepper sprinkled around the edges of the bed and interestingly we haven`t used straw or netting. How strange is that!

The weeds have gone mad whilst we have been away. You could hardly see the leeks.

The growth on the willow arch is quite incredible and needs weaving in.

The lavender is looking good.

The new roses recovered
from their initial nibblings.

The sedum is in full flower
and is so pretty up close.

The lychnis provides a fantastic splash of colour.

This year the butterfly garden seems full of catmint and feverfew.

Here are some flowers from our wildflower mix which have seeded
themselves in a completely different place. I don`t mind at all.

There is a secret in the hobbit house, just glimpsed through the round window.

Hollie`s honeysuckle looks very pretty.

It`s amazing what can be done with an old drinking trough. I think Hollie did this one for Anne.
It is filling out nicely.

This weekend the campers in the Woodland yurts are using the tranquility, peace and quiet for therapist training. What a fantastic idea!

On the way home we were astonished to see how much the wheat had grown.
