April in Guestling Woods

Today we have been for a walk in Guestling Woods. They are just across the road from our house.
I have been walking here for the last 50 years.....(OMG that sounds so awful)
As a child, when we were free to roam!!! and our parents felt free to let us roam!!! coming as far as Guestling Wood was quite an adventure.  We did it fairly often.
So I am knowing these woodlands and paths quite well. That doesn`t mean to say that we don`t sometimes find new paths, such as this one.....

Periodically, the trees are coppiced and this year many trees have been uprooted in the high winds.
The tree surgeons have been busy.

This view is taken close to the carpark.

The sweet chestnut leaves are just unfurling.

The ferns are a luminescent green.

The wood violets are stunning this year....

......as are the primroses.

Pockets of anemones remain whilst in other areas the ground is carpetted still.

The lady Stream is full.

Red Campions are just beginning to show.

I was fascinated by the ivy roots on this trunk
and would love to use this idea on the walls
of the cob shed as a finish...not sure how though.

On the home straight.....green moss and fresh green growth on the silverbirches.
I don`t think the bluebells have quite reached their zenith but it won`t be long.

If you come camping/yurting at Freshwinds, don`t forget to walk here. It`s so close and such a joy.
